Affordable Housing Consensus Meeting
Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 7-9pm
Norwood Police and Fire Station’s Community Room
(Nahatan Street Across from Shaw’s Market, Norwood)
Recognizing the pressing need for more affordable housing in Massachusetts, the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVM) Convention 2005 adopted a study with the following scope:
To evaluate legislation, regulations, and programs in Massachusetts to determine their effectiveness in providing affordable housing and propose a new position through consensus or concurrence
The Committee began this study two years ago. It has informed the membership via two workshops, two voter articles, five bulletin articles, and a booklet containing lengthy reports.
Leagues will view a power point presentation at regional consensus meetings across Massachusetts.
The Affordable Housing Committee is comprised of:
Wendy Manz, co-chair, Lexington
Jane Nash, co-chair, Westwood
Lynn Cohen, Advisor, Westford
Joan Duff, Andover
Clare Gordon, Brookline

Immigration Study Consensus Kit is Now Ready:
Be a Part of History
We have now reached the member agreement phase of the LWVUS Immigration Study, the time when Leagues prepare to take consensus. Grassroots agreement on positions is one of the League’s greatest strengths. Preparing for and taking consensus is hard work, but worthwhile. The resulting position will allow the organization to affect national policy for years to come, just as we have been doing in other areas for 87 years – it’s part of the organization’s history.
On Thursday November 15th the Westwood Walpole LWV will meet at Marcia Hirschberg's home to come to consensus on this important issue. Please find your consensus material by clicking the link below.
