 Dear
Katherine
The
recent passing of Senator Edward M. Kennedy
signals the end of an era, and the end of a life
so full of enthusiasm, focus, and passion. His
life was driven by the personal stories of people
like you and me, people with real issues, real
problems, and real concerns. Ted Kennedy was the
last surviving Senator who truly cared and
listened to his constituents, kept in touch with
people who he had connected with, and strived to
make a meaningful and powerful difference in his
state, his nation, and quite possibly, the world.
Ted Kennedy fought for many issues
throughout his lifetime, but healthcare reform was
by far the most important cause of his life.
Sadly, many health care reformers are using Ted's
passing as a tool to push forward their own
agenda, putting words in the Senator's mouth, and
using his good name to attract more
support. In reality, the Senator from
Massachusetts was a champion for affordable,
attainable, healthcare, for every American,
regardless of their background, for the good of
the nation. It's time our nation took
a stand on an issue, and actively participated in
fighting for a cause that we each believe in, true
to our hearts, much like Ted Kennedy did. It's
important to remember that Senator Kennedy devoted
his life to serving the public, a cause that
sadly, few people are called to in this modern
age.
As Americans, in honor of Ted Kennedy
and his lifelong healthcare crusade, let us begin
our own life of service, calling ourselves to a
higher profession, a profession that is not only
rewarding, but also makes a difference to millions
of people in need. Best Wishes,
Greg
