Our League

The Westwood-Walpole League runs a number of programs throughout the year. Check our home page for information about upcoming events. Email us for more information about our services and activities.

At its annual meeting in June 2009 the Westwood/Walpole League reverted from a steering committee to a president and board method of organizing their league.

The Board, with guidance from the membership at annual meeting, sets priorities, and plans the League's program for the year. The Board holds monthy meetings to which all members are invited.  If you wish to come to a Board meeting, call League President Greg Agnew at 781-326-8944.

Meet our new leaders

President, Greg Agnew

Greg Agnew On July 2, 2008, I wrote an article published in the Westwood Blog responding to League member Jane Nash's Letter to the Editor concerning the Freedom of Information Act. After my article was published, I received a call from Jane herself, and we began discussing amongst other things, the Westwood & Walpole League of Women Voters. Before I knew it, I found myself as a guest at the next Board of Director's meeting, sharing my thoughts and desires for your local League. Now, as President, I feel honored and humbled to represent such a vibrant, diverse, and contributing piece of Westwood and Walpole's communities. Please join us, and experience the feeling of giving back to your community, in more ways than you can imagine.

Vice-President, Michelle Ewing-Perry

Michelle Ewing-PerryHello Everyone:

I am excited to work with such a great group of "Leaguers" this year. I am always amazed that in my professional and personal life, how often I am running into current and active LWV members from around the country. I remember a few years ago, I had just joined, and was flying home from Hong Kong, when I met a fellow "Leaguer" at Logan. From that moment on I was convinced I needed to be an active part of this powerful group. The great thing is that those LWV members always seem to be doing something important, and leading something good. I look forward to working on some great projects this year, as well as, meeting all of you, (if I can).

Sincerely,
Michelle Ewing-Perry

Here we are!

Phoebe Joseph
I joined LWV in 1962 as a single mother seeking adult company. I enjoyed serving on committees and learning about issues. I have served as President, and for many years as Treasurer, and would recommend League for curious people seeking community involvement.

Virginia Fettig
I joined the League as a young stay-at-home mother mostly to get out of the house and give my brain a much-needed workout. I found a group of energetic, intelligent, engaging women with whom I have been proud to associate ever since. Because I believe the League is a very important part of citizen efforts to sustain and improve our democracy, I continue to be active.

Judy Barrington
I joined the League 40 years ago because I wanted to learn more about issues affecting us especially at the local level. After a few years "off" I rejoined about 6 years ago and am still learning. I believe that most women and men would benefit by joining the League with its traditions and from the energies of this dynamic group.
